Kiwanis Peanut Day (September 26 & 27)
   Peanut Day raises money for Boundless Playground (Kiwanis project for a handicap accessible playground).  Currently Phase I is complete for Boundless Playground and fundraising begins for Phase II (a water park addition).
     To help during Peanut Day, please contact Lynn Stephenson at 765-5326 to sign up for a time to be a Winn-Dixie either Friday the 26th or Saturday the 27th.

Reading is Fundamental (RIF)
     Last year, Florence Kiwanis donated $400, which along with reading amounted to an “in kind” gift, (books and time), of $2,000 which justified grant funds four times that amount, or, $8,000.  As you can see there is a multiplying effect with what we do. 
     The importance of RIF cannot be overstated.  Many of these kids age 3-5 have no exposure to printed material or reading; incredible.  This is our opportunity to break the illiteracy cycle, for the illiteracy rate in the area is very high.
     For the year 2003-2004, Florence Kiwanis has the following book distribution/reading dates: November, 19th and 20th, (Wed & Thurs), February 25th and 26th. (Wed and Thurs), and April 21st and 22nd, (Wed and Thurs.)  The times are usually 9:30 – 11:30 on Wed and 10:30 to 11:30 on Thurs at HHS.  (dates/times are subject to change).
     Books are also provided for Florence Even Start and Lauderdale County Schools. 

Up 'til Dawn
     Circle K will join other organizations on campus to start an Up 'til Dawn team and raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
